Jimenez leads Women's Cross Country at ISU Pre-Nationals Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Senior Betzy Jimenez posted a 21st place finish to lead the Texas Women's Cross Country team at Saturday's ISU Pre-Nationals Cross Country meet in Terre Haute, Ind. Texas finished 12th in the White Invitational 6K which was ran on the same course that will host the 2009 NCAA Cross Country Championships in November. Jimenez clocked a 21:11.1 in her second race of the season for the top 25 finish. Sophomore Mia Behm followed closely behind crossing the line in a personal-best 6K mark of 21:27.7 for 37th. Senior Allison Mendez, who entered the race with two 5K individual titles under her belt, continued her stellar season as she posted a personal-best time of 21:57.8 for 83rd. Senior Lauren Salisbury finished just five seconds later in 22:02.1 for 93rd. Two other Horns PR'd in the race as senior Asia Myrland recorded a time of 22:28.7 (134th) and sophomore Ginny Simon finished in 23:02.8 (178th). Sophomore Anne Jones clocked a 24:03.2 for 228th. Defending NCAA Champions Washington won the White Invitational while Colorado's Jenny Barringer claimed the individual title with a time of 19:50.9. Texas has two weeks to prepare for the 2009 Big 12 Cross Country Championships which will be held on Saturday, October 31 in Columbia, Mo. TEXAS RESULTS
