Adams and Faucette earn AVCA All-America First Team honors

Dec. 15, 2010

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The sixth-ranked Texas Volleyball team has placed two players on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Teams for the fifth straight season.

Senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette and junior middle blocker Rachael Adams represent Texas on the first team. The honor is the third All-America honor of Faucette's career (2007 first team, 2009 third team) and Adams' first career award.

Each of the three AVCA All-America Teams is comprised of 14 athletes. The Division I AVCA National Player of the Year will be announced on Dec. 17 at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet presented by Zamst.

Faucette, a San Diego, Calif., native adds All-America laurels to her selection as the Big 12 Player of the Year. Faucette leads the Horns with 3.92 kills per-set and ranks second on the club with 2.54 digs per-set.

Adams, a Cincinnati, Ohio, native ranks No. 1 in the NCAA with her .448 attack mark and has anchored the middle of the Texas attack to help the Horns hit .311 as a team. The junior leads the UT with 1.20 blocks and ranks second on the club with 2.94 kills per-set.

The Longhorns are currently 27-5 and are making their third-straight NCAA Semifinal appearance this week.
