Checking in: Jenny Andrew
Hey y’all, this is Jenny Andrew checking in. We are in the very, very cold Green Bay, Wisconsin. It’s about 11 a.m. on Thursday and we’re getting ready for practice. We just had our team breakfast and it was really nice to sleep in until 10 a.m. Last night, it was none other than Brett Favre greeting us at the airport when we got in around 11 p.m. Even though it was just a cardboard cutout, it was pretty sweet to see him waiting there for us. Michelle (Moriarty) has a not-so-secret crush on him and she took a picture with him and then we all took a shot with the Green Bay fan that met us at the airport with green and gold mardi gras beads and a big sign that said "The NCAA Welcomes Texas Volleyball." So it was pretty big time for us to arrive in style. We had a pretty stressful week last week, trying to take finals and move things around that need to get taken care of before we came to Wisconsin to play in the Sweet 16. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without our awesome Academics office since they helped us move our finals so we didn’t have to worry about them while we were up here playing in the Sweet 16. But, I want to take you back to the last win we had - against Michigan last Saturday. It was pretty awesome to have Bethany (Howden) in the match for us with the chance to win since she has such a great jump serve. It was not just a great win to leave our gym with a win so we could head to Wisconsin, but it was great for her and Mira (Topic) since it was the last time they were going to play on our court in front of our awesome fans. I’m glad they left Gregory Gym with a bang! It was an awesome feeling knowing that we were one of 16 teams practicing in the gym on Monday morning and so we were just really excited. The emotions are flowing now and we’ve the juices going and we’re really prepared to play a great Stanford team tomorrow. We’re all layered up now, ready to go to practice. It’s pretty cold. We all have our gloves and beanies and new Texas fleece-lined jackets and we’re ready to take on the cold. I will talk to you tomorrow. We’re off now … God bless and Hook ‘Em- Jenny
