· Texas is the No. 7 seed in the NCAA tournament and is in the Austin Regional Bracket ... The Longhorns advanced to the regional after sweeping Prairie View A&M and Stephen F. Austin in the first and second rounds of NCAA play ... Wisconsin advances to the Austin Regional after defeating Notre Dame (3-0) and Iowa State (3-0) in the Madison Subregional ... Stanford swept past Sacramento State and beat Missouri, 3-2 in the Palo Alto Subregional, while California downed 16th-ranked LSU, 3-1 and knocked off 15th-seeded and 14th-ranked Cal Poly, 3-1 at the San Luis Obispo Subregional.

· Texas meets Wisconsin Saturday for the fifth time in school history and for the second time this season ... UT opened the season against UW, sweeping the Badgers, 3-0 (30-28, 30-18, 30-22) at the AVCA Volleyball Showcase in Madison, Wis. ... The two schools have never met in NCAA play, but Texas head coach Jerritt Elliott met Wisconsin in the 2000 NCAA Semifinals, while at Southern California ... The Horns carry a 3-1 all-time record against the Badgers

· The Horns are participating in their 23rd NCAA Tournament, the fourth-most appearances in the nation ... Beginning in 1982 - the team's first NCAA Tournament - Texas advanced to 18 straight tournaments (1982-2000)

· 2006 marks the 10th time that Texas has hosted an NCAA Regional, last hosting in 1993 ... When UT hosted the first and second rounds Dec. 1-2, it marked the 17th time that Texas hosted first-round matches ... The Horns' win in this year's first round extended UT's all-time record in first round matches to 20-0.

· The Longhorns are one of just three teams located east of California to win an NCAA Championship (1988), joining Nebraska (1995, 2000) and Penn State (1999).

· Junior setter Michelle Moriarty set the new Texas career assists record in the Horns' NCAA Second Round victory over Stephen F. Austin ... On the fourth point in game three, the junior connected with Lauren Paolini for a kill and recorded her 4,251st career assist to surpass former record holder Jill Grimmell, who recorded 4,250 assists during her career (1997-2000) ... Moriarty tallied 46 assists against SFA and now has 1,487 assists this season and 4,258 assists for her career.

· In the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament Texas is out-hitting its opponents .388-to- -.051 ... Ashley Engle is leading the Horns' attack in postseason play, recording a team-high 24 kills and 4.00 kills per-game and hitting at a .447 clip ... Destinee Hooker ranks second on the squad with 3.33 k/pg and Dariam Acevedo ranks third with 3.00 k/pg, while registering a team best 4.80 digs per-game in NCAA play ... UT's middle blockers Lauren Paolini and Jennifer Todd hit .550 and .500 respectively in Texas' two matches and averaged 1.83 and 1.00 blocks per-game during the NCAA's.         

· The Horns saw three players garner All-Big 12 honors on Monday, Nov. 27 as Ashley Engle and Destinee Hooker were named to the first team and Michelle Moriarty was an honorable mention selection ... Engle also added Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors, while Moriarty earned her third straight All-Big 12 honor.

· Texas remained at No. 8 in the latest CSTV/AVCA poll, released Monday, Nov. 27 ... UT has been ranked in the Top 10 of the poll in 12-of-13 weeks this season ... The Longhorns began the 2006 campaign ranked eighth in the preseason poll, marking the team's highest preseason ranking since 1998 (9) ... Texas earned its highest ranking in the poll Sept. 11 when it was voted No. 5, staying there for two weeks.

· Ashley Engle has recorded a kill/dig double-double in 11 of her last 17 matches, dating back to Texas' loss at Oklahoma (Sept. 27) ... On the year Engle has totaled 14 double-doubles ... Junior setter Michelle Moriarty has 16 assist/dig double-doubles this season, while senior outside hitter Dariam Acevedo has tallied nine kill/dig double-doubles in 2006.
