Moriarty garners ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors

AUSTIN, Texas -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have named Texas senior setter Michelle Moriarty to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team. The award is the first Academic All-America honor of Moriarty's decorated career, which includes three straight selections to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District squad.

The Houston, Texas, native is two-time first-team All-Big 12 performer and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.

Moriarty, an AVCA All-America Third Team selection in 2006, carries a 3.703 GPA in sport management and ranks fifth nationally in assists per-game. Texas' all-time assists leader has registered 14.12 assists per-game and has started 26 matches this season. Moriarty has led Texas to a national-best attack mark of .341, a 24-3 record and a Big 12 Co-Championship

The senior ranks third on the team with 2.44 digs per-game and has totaled 10 assist/dig double-doubles during her 2007 campaign. She ranks second on the club with 20 service aces and a 0.22 service aces per-game average.

Moriarty and her Texas teammates return to action at 6:30 p.m. Central on Friday, Nov. 30, when they take on Texas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
