Three Volleyball signees garner AVCA High School All-America honors

Nov. 24, 2009

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Three of Texas' signees for the 2010 academic year have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) fourth annual Under Armour Girls High School All-America Teams.

Hannah Allison (Siloam Springs, Ark.) earned first-team honors and will appear in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match & Skills Competition. Haley Cameron (La Jolla, Calif.) and Sarah Palmer (Kailua, Hawaii) were named to the second team.

For the first time in the award's four-year history, the organization is awarding honorable mention accolades in addition to the 24-member First-and-Second-Teams. The 100 players represent 27 states and 81 high schools. Many have already committed to play collegiate volleyball at some of the top programs in the country.

Each of the 24 players on the First-Team will be invited to play in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match & Skills Competition. The event will be held at the St. Pete Times Forum, December 20 in Tampa, Fla., in conjunction with the 2009 AVCA Annual Convention.

Requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that she be nominated by her high school coach, that her coach be a member of the AVCA and that her season statistics be entered into MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports.
