Faucette garners AVCA National Player of the Week honors

Nov. 23, 2010

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas senior All-America outside hitter Juliann Faucette has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week after leading the Longhorns to a pair of victories last week. Faucette has won two-straight Big 12 Player of the Week honors and five in four seasons, while this marks her first national weekly honor of her career.

Faucette shined for the Longhorns in their wins over Missouri and Kansas last week, averaging 6.79 points, 6.00 kills, 3.57 digs and 0.71 blocks per-set, while posting a .368 hitting percentage. The San Diego, Calif., native's onslaught against KU marked her fourth match in her last five outings that she has registered 24 or more kills. The senior registered her 19th and 20th career kill/dig double-doubles in UT's two wins and pushed her career kill mark to 1,474 to capture fifth-place on UT's all-time kill charts.

In UT's sweep of Missouri, Faucette hammered out 16 kills on .324 hitting and totaled 10 digs, three total blocks and one solo block. Against the Jayhawks, she propelled the Horns to a 3-1 win with her 26-kill, 15-dig effort. She hit .396 in the match, tallied two service aces and added two total blocks.

Faucette and the Longhorns return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 24 when they play host to Texas A&M in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. Central.
