Texas survived a two-game Iowa State rally and staved off an ISU rally in game five, 18-16 to knock off the Cyclones, 3-2 at the Hilton Coliseum. Five Longhorns tallied double-digit kill totals in the 30-19, 30-24, 24-30, 32-34, 18-16 victory ... Texas went up two games to none with ease took early control of the match, however, Iowa State stormed back after the break, winning two straight games before the Horns were able to shut the door on a solo block by sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker in game five ... Hooker paced the Longhorns with a team-high 20 kills and the sophomore added 11 digs and five total blocks ... sophomore opposite hitter Ashley Engle posted 18 kills on the night and chipped in 11 digs, six blocks and four assists, while freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette and junior middle blocker Lauren Paolini registered 16 kills apiece.

LAST TIME AGAINST KANSAS STATE (10/6/07)
Despite dropping games two and four, Texas rallied to knock off No. 17 Kansas State, 3-2 (30-26, 25-30, 30-27, 22-30, 15-9) at Ahearn Fieldhouse on Oct. 6 ... sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker led the way for UT, hammering out 18 kills and posting eight digs and seven block assists ... freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette connected for 15 kills on .290 hitting, while senior middle blocker Brandy Magee added 13 kills and nine total blocks and junior middle blocker Lauren Paolini totaled 11 kills on .611 hitting and registered nine total blocks ... senior setter Michelle Moriarty recorded 55 assists and 10 digs on the night, registering her second straight assist/dig double-double ... sophomore opposite hitter Ashley Engle added a season-high 10 digs against the Wildcats, while senior libero Alyson Jennings posted a team-high 11 digs ... the Longhorns out-blocked KSU on the night, 18.5-to-10.5 and out-hit the Wildcats .285-to-.196.
