Nov. 22, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas senior All-America outside hitter Juliann Faucette has been named Big 12 Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after headlining the Longhorns' attack in their wins over Missouri and Kansas last week. Faucette's award was the fifth player of the week honor of her career and the third of 2010.
Faucette continued her hot stint, averaging 6.79 points, 6.00 kills, 3.57 digs and 0.71 blocks per-set, while hitting at a red hot .368 clip from the left side. The senior's offensive explosion versus KU marked her fourth match in her last five outings that she has registered 24 or more kills. She tallied her 19th and 20th career kill/dig double-doubles in UT's two wins and improved her career kill total to 1,474 to move into fifth-place on UT's all-time kill charts.
In Texas' 3-0 win over Missouri, Faucette hammered out 16 kills on .324 hitting and added 10 digs, three total blocks and one solo block. Against Kansas, the senior helped the Horns to a 3-1 win with her 26-kill, 15-dig effort. She hit .396 in the match, chipped in two service aces and added two total blocks.
Faucette and her Longhorn teammates return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 24 when they play host to Texas A&M in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. Central.
