Two Volleyball signees named AVCA High School All-America First Team
Nov. 18, 2010
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has named 2011 Texas signees Katherine Bell and Madelyn Hutson to its fifth annual Under Armour Girls High School All-America First Team. The 100 players that were selected for this year's honors represent 31 states and 87 high schools. Many have already committed to play collegiate volleyball at some of the top programs in the country. Each of the players on the First-Team will be invited to play in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match & Skills Competition. The event will be held at Municipal Auditorium, December 18 in Kansas City, Mo., in conjunction with the 2010 AVCA Annual Convention. Due to special circumstances, this year's First-Team consists of 25 players due to an injury to Lexi Dannemiller, who was selected as a First-Team recipient, but as a result of her injury will not be able to compete in the event. Requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that she be nominated by her high school coach, that her coach be a member of the AVCA and that her individual season statistics versus all opponents for the entire season be entered into MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports.
