Kickin' it with Kisner: Nov. 17
Nov. 17, 2008
We just finished another exciting week in Texas Volleyball and we are looking forward to another one this coming week!
Last week, we played Texas Tech at home and then we traveled north to take on the Kansas State Wildcats in a five-set thriller. In Wednesday's game against Tech we came out strong from the start. In the NCAA Tournament, there is a six match road to the finals and starting with Tech, there were six matches left to the end of the Big 12 journey. Two matches are done and now we have four more left in the Big 12!
On Saturday, we chartered a flight to Manhattan, Kansas. The weekend started off with the team arriving at the airport to board a new, bigger plane. Usually we only charter on the weekdays in order to get back for class the following day, but we were fortunate enough to be able to charter over the weekend. Additionally, our plane was upgraded from a thirty passenger to a fifty passenger plane. After a short one hour and forty-five minute flight, we headed to the hotel for a quick snack and then to practice for a two and a half hour workout.
The next morning we woke up for an early morning serve and pass and then prepared for the game later that evening. We knew going into the game it was going to be a battle from start to finish. Kansas State is a very good team, and we knew that we needed to take care of our side of the net in order to win. The game was a true test of our competitiveness, composure and team fight. We ended up winning the match in five sets, and built not only our team's confidence but gave us valuable experience in a tight match.
This coming week we have a HUGE game here at home against Nebraska, who is currently sitting atop the Big 12. The game will be at home at 8pm. It will be broadcasted live on ESPNU for those of you who are unable to make it up to Gregory.
Can't wait to see all of y'all at the games this week!
