Player quotes from Thursday's practice

Nov. 15, 2012

Sophomore outside hitter Haley Eckerman
On emotions from winning the Big 12 last night:
It was a great feeling just to know that our hard work is starting to pay off. (Winning the) Big 12 was our first goal so now we just have to finish out the conference and move on to the next match.

On how much hard work and effort she put in: We obviously started with the veterans who were here in the spring working out, doing work outs every morning. Then, when the freshmen came in the summer, just getting that connection with them and that trust while working hard every morning.

On next step: To finish out the conference. Our goal is to go undefeated in the whole conference and win every match after.

Senior utility Sha'Dare McNeal
On what are some of her emotions for her last regular season match at home on Saturday:
Just seeing my parents out on the court when they announce that it is my last game. I think my mom is going to be really emotional so that's going to make me be really emotional. It will be fun. I'm just going to embrace it and enjoy the fans and all my teammates.

On what she will miss the most: Definitely the girls. The girls make it a lot of fun. I'm going to miss talking to Bailey (Webster) everyday. Seeing just everyone, its going to be a big part.

On has the Texas experience lived up to expectations: Most definitely. It's been everything and more. I couldn't have asked to come to a better college, play on a better team. It is the best decision I have made.

On thoughts about playing in the NCAA tournament in Gregory Gym: I expect the atmosphere to be really fun. A lot of fans, just like two years ago when we hosted Regionals, so I am looking forward to that.

On favorite memory at Texas: It would definitely be winning Regionals my sophomore year. We played against Purdue and that was a really close match. And just the last point, I think Jenn Doris ended up blocking the ball and it was just an awesome feeling.
