• Texas is ranked No. 3 in the current CBS College Sports/AVCA poll (Nov. 3) ... Texas has now appeared in the top 10 of the AVCA poll for 37 consecutive weeks ... the Longhorns' No. 3 ranking in the preseason poll was the highest preseason ranking in UT history, breaking the previous mark of No. 4 set in 1998 and 2007 ... five of Texas' 2008 opponents appear in the current poll, including Big 12 foes Nebraska (No. 3) and Kansas State (No. 15).

• The Longhorns have now won two in a row after dowing Baylor, 3-0 Wednesday night (11/5) at the Ferrell Center ... junior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker led the charge for the Horns with 15 kills on .375 hitting, while sophomore All-America outside hitter Juliann Faucette joined her in double figures with 10 kills ... the Horns held the Bears to a .137 attack mark in the match and out-blocked Baylor 8.0-to-5.0.

• Texas is hitting a conference-best .351 in league play, holding a large .091 edge on second-place Nebraska which is hitting .260 in the Big 12 ... senior All-America middle blocker Lauren Paolini is leading the way for UT in league play, hitting a Big 12-best .526, registering 113 kills on 196 swings, while committing just 10 attack errors in 12 matches ... Paolini has recorded six error-free matches so far in Big 12 action ... junior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker ranks eighth in the league with a .328 attack mark, while leading the Big 12 with 5.45 points and 4.52 kills per-set.

• The 2008 Longhorns have been putting up robust team hitting numbers en route to leading the league with a .339 attack mark on the year and a .351 hitting clip in Big 12 play ... UT has hit .350 or better in 10 matches this season, while hitting at a .400 clip or better in six matches.

•  Following its loss to Nebraska (Sept. 12, 2007), Texas ran off 23 straight victories en route to making its second straight NCAA Regional finals appearance ... in 2008, the Horns are 9-1 since falling to the No. 2 Huskers on Sept. 20 in Lincoln, Neb. ... if Texas wins out they can earn a share of the Big 12 title.

•  Senior All-America middle blocker Lauren Paolini is following up her All-America campaign from a year ago with a stellar start to the 2008 season ... the Ann Arbor, Mich., ranks first on the UT squad with 65 total blocks and 0.88 blocks per-set ... offensively, Paolini is hitting at a .460 clip with 2.41 kills per-set ... in 2007 Paolini set the UT single-season record with a .418 hitting percentage.
