Quick hits with Kiley Hall

An outside hitter all through her high school and club career, Costa Mesa, Calif. native, Kiley Hall learned more than just the names of a few new faces when steeping out on the volleyball court this season.

Since arriving at the 40 Acres, the freshman has been transformed into a defensive specialist. Crediting her coaching staff and teammates for her growth and superb progress made so far this year, Hall, and anyone else who watches her, realizes her potential.

Hall recently took some time out from practice to give a better perspective into her personality by answering a few "Quick Hits."

Q: What do you feel you contribute most to this year's team?
KH: "My serving. I am consistent with it and confident that when (assistant coach) Brian (Hosfeld) gives me an area to hit, I will."

Q: What is your favorite part of the volleyball season?
KH: "I love the team atmosphere of volleyball, but I guess postseason play is my favorite part of the season."

Q: What other sports have you played besides volleyball?
KH: "Soccer, track and when I was really little I did swim team and junior lifeguards."

Q: Who is your inspiration?
KH: "My mom. She played volleyball and did a lot when it was not really a big sport. She supports me in everything I do and I look up to her a lot."

Q: What is your favorite UT tradition so far?
KH: "Umm...the Hellraisers. It is fun to play in front of them."

Q: What do you miss most about high school?
KH: "My friends. I think the small atmosphere there is a lot different from here with such a big campus. I used to be able to hang out with my friends and do whatever there and here, volleyball consumes my life a little more."

Q: Are you a daredevil?
KH: "For the most part. I wouldn't do anything to crazy or anything where I knew I could hurt myself. I love rollercoasters and I have jumped off rocks into the ocean ... stuff along that line."

Q: What celebrity would you like to run for president?
KH: "If I wanted something fun I would say Adam Sandler, Cameran Diaz or Jim Carrey. With them being funny, it may make the world a little happier, but without the political background things could get pretty unorganized."

Q: If you had one million dollars, what is the first thing you would spend it on?
KH: "A house. Not a big one, just a suitable one. That is the hardest thing you have to buy in life and once you buy it you always have it."

Q: When do you find time for homework?
KH: "When I am not playing volleyball, eating or sleeping, I am usually doing my homework."

Q: What is your favorite animal at the zoo?
KH: "Monkey!"

Q: What is your favorite candy bar?
KH: "Hershey's. I like straight chocolate."

Q: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
KH: "Mint chocolate chip or coffee. Just depends what kind of mood I'm in."
