Holler back: November 1

Hey, everyone! This is Sarah Holloway, a freshman defensive specialist and libero on the Texas Volleyball team. This year, I've inherited the weekly diary from both Whitney Garvens (who wrote it for the volleyball team in 2003) and from my brother Tillman (who wrote a diary for the UT football team last year). I'll keep you up-to-date on what's happening with the team, both on the court and off. I'll fill you in on our matches and our travels as we go after a Big 12 title in 2004! Check back each week to see what we've been up to! Hook 'em!

Hello everyone!

I'm back. A big thanks goes out to Beth (Howden) for helping me out last week when I had so much schoolwork to do.

This week we got back to winning and it feels much better. We started off by traveling to Norman (Okla.) and playing UT's huge rival, the OU Sooners. There's always a lot of excitement going on because there's such a big rivalry between the schools that extends beyond just the football teams.

When we got to campus for our serve and pass in the morning, there were upside down longhorns everywhere! I think that just added fuel to our fire. When we went back that night for the match, we just went in there and took care of business and came out with a great win. We even got home about an hour earlier than we had planned.

We came home to Gregory Gym for two hard practices and prepared for another big game against Baylor. One of the funnier moments this week was in practice when one of our managers, Carlos (Rodriquez), came dressed as a cow for Halloween, udders and all. He even said he wore it all day even to class and everyone got a good laugh at that! That takes a lot of guts.

Well anyway... back to volleyball. Saturday night, it was nice to play in front of our amazing home crowd and see all the little kids in their Halloween costumes. It was nice to play our game and come away with another win against Baylor in three games.

Next week is an exciting week for me because I get to go home to Colorado and play my best friends (the Buffs' Amber and Ashley Nu'u) and see my family. I haven't been home to Colorado in nine months!

We are working hard in the gym to really prove ourselves as one of the top teams in the country. It is a tough road ahead to finish out the Big 12 and then head on to the NCAA Tournament. Keep us in your prayers and as always, Hook 'Em.

God bless.
-Holler
