In rotation: My dream car

Every week throughout the 2004 season, the Texas volleyball team will all respond to a question posed to them by TexasSports.com.

After the team's first two losses, the Texas volleyball took a break from its usual "all–kidding–aside" attitude and buckled down to get back on the winning track. Now, with three–straight wins under its belt, the Texas returned to its normal practice–day routine of joking around before the real work began on the court. In this week's installment of "In Rotation", freshman outside hitting Jen Christian asked the team what its favorite – or rather, dream – cars would be. And as usual, she provided her insightful commentary.

Christian – So Sledge, what's your dream car?

Lauren Sledge – Umm, a Hummer. Because it's not practical and it's something I would never own.

Christian – It's not practical?

Sledge – It eats fuel. It's so big. It's just not the best car for me, but it's still my dream car.

Christian – All that is power. More power is good. Lots and lots of power. Torque is good.

Sledge – It sounds like you're talking about an 18–wheeler or something.

Christian – Dariam (Acevedo)?

Acevedo – I'm not sure. Maybe something like an Audi because it's something I would never own.

Christian – So you like fast cars?

Acevedo – Yah, and small cars.

Christian – You'd drive like a maniac in it, too! Wait, you don't have your license, do you? But if you did have your license, you would be a mad woman on the roads!

Lauren Galler – I would love a Lamborghini.

Christian – Yours would be a Lamborghini? My brother would love you. He loves Lamborghinis, Ferraris and all those cars. He's obsessed with them.

Galler – I know, he has good taste.

Christian – How about you Michelle (Moriarty)?

Moriarty – A Dodge Viper.

Christian – Nice. Sarah Pie (Holloway)? What would you drive?

Holloway – Let me think about it. Ok, I have it.

Christian – You do?

Holloway – No.

Acevedo – A pickup truck?

Christian – No, that's me.

Holloway – A Suburban because that would mean that I am married with kids.

(The whole team responds with a big "Awwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhh".)

Christian – Holler, you are so cute! Ok, now Bethany Howden what is your dream car?

Howden – My dream car would be a grey Tahoe, with a little bit of a lift.

Christian – With big tires?

Howden – Yeah, but not to boyish. I would also like a grill guard on the front. Oh yeah, I also want to put a (sound) system in it blaring Pat Green.

Christian – Ok, Alyson what's your dream car?

Jennings – Ummm. A black Range Rover with beige interior and tinted windows.

Christian – Awesome. But what is on the radio?

Leticia Armstrong – Probably some mellow Cali stuff.

Christian – Nah fool, she is probably listening to something ghetto like Busta Rhymes.

Christian – Your dream car Mira?

Mira Topic – An Audi TT.

Christian – But, you don't have your driver license.

Howden (shouting from the background) – One time she borrowed someone's car and she wrecked it.

Topic – I did everything fine until it came to parking and then I pressed the gas instead of the brake.

(The whole team laughs again in unison)

Christian – What did the guy say? Did he freak out?

Topic – He was mad, but he was nice. The damage wasn't really bad.

Christian – Brandy Magee, what is your dream car?

Magee – I think a pearl Escalade with leather interior and a good system.

Christian – You need to get one with the gold trim and the whole package like some of our coaches have here? What are you going to listen to on the radio?

Magee – I gotta have a mix of Lil' Jon, Bad Boys, Usher and maybe some old Destiny's Child.

Christian – My dream car: Jen Christian.

Members of the team – Like they don't know who it is.

Christian – It is a SL 550, black convertible Mercedes–Benz, with 450 horsepower, black interior, 519 foot–pounds of torque. And it will go 0–60 in 4.3 seconds. That's it.

Christian – Hey T (Leticia Armstrong)

Armstrong – My dream car is a Cadillac Escalade on spinners.

Christian – What color?

Armstrong – Purple.

Christian – What is playing on your CD player?

Armstrong – Alicia Keys.

Christian – (Begins singing and then must have fallen asleep because Jenny Andrew is solo on her dream car).

Andrew – I don't know if you can hear me right now because I am on the team plane, but this is Jenny Andrew and my dream car would be a decked out Land Rover, and also an old Ford Mustang that my Dad and I could refinish together. That would be pretty sweet. Hook'em!
