Bell earns Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week honors

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas freshman outside hitter Khat Bell has been named the Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week after leading the Longhorns to a 3-0 win over No. 14 Iowa State last week. The player of the week award is the first of her career and the rookie honor is her third of 2011.
The Mesquite, Texas, native led the Horns in hitting percentage, kills and blocks in the win. She hammered out 13 kills on 16 error-free swings and hit at an .812 clip in the win, while adding two solo blocks, four digs and six total blocks. She averaged 5.67 points, 4.33 kills, 2.00 blocks and 1.33 digs per-set.
Bell has now recorded 24 kills on 28 attacks and committed zero errors in her last two outings.
Bell and her Texas teammates return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they travel to Kansas. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. Central.
