Kickin' it with Kisner: Oct. 27
Oct. 27, 2008
Hey Y'all, Another successful week for the Longhorns! Last week we took on Texas Tech out in Lubbock and then came back home to Gregory to face BYU in a non-conference match. Wednesday's match in Lubbock was our first sweep on the road since starting Big 12 play. Going into the match we wanted to go out and have fun playing the game we love. It was our last game of the first round of Big 12 play and we wanted to wrap-up the first half on a high note. On Friday, we hosted BYU at Gregory Gym. It was exciting playing a team from another conference and have a break from the grind of Big 12 play. Our tough serving was a key factor in our win over the Cougars. We finished the match with seven aces and were able to force BYU out of their system, which allowed our block time to get some good touches. This week we are home for a pair of great rivalry matches. On Wednesday we face the Oklahoma Sooners at 6:30 p.m. in our very first `Volley for the Cure' match. The night will be an effort for us to help raise breast cancer awareness in the Longhorn community. Fans can be a part of Volley for the Cure by attending our match and wearing pink in support of the cause. After our first big rivalry match we turn around for a second big-time matchup on Saturday. We will be hosting Texas A&M in the second half of the State Farm Lone Star Showdown at a special 5 p.m. start time on Saturday. Hook `Em,
