Kisner earns Big 12 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas junior libero Heather Kisner was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Longhorns defense in their victories over Texas A&M and Missouri last week. The honor is the second weekly honor of the season for the Sugar Land, Texas, native. Kisner highlighted No. 3 Texas' defensive effort in its Big 12 Conference victories over the Aggies and Tigers, tallying 4.14 digs per-set in the two wins. The junior captain notched a team-best 14 digs and added three assists and a service ace in UT's 3-1 win over Texas A&M on Wednesday. She was also perfect in serve reception, committing zero errors in 32 attempts. Kisner turned in another night of double-digit digs in the Horns' 3-0 sweep of Missouri on Friday, registering 15 digs in the match. The Longhorns have now claimed nine Big 12 weekly honors this season, earning four player of the week, two defensive player of the week and three rookie of the week awards. Kisner and her Texas teammates return to action, Wednesday, Oct. 22 when they travel to Texas Tech. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
