Eckerman garners Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas freshman outside hitter Haley Eckerman has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week after leading the Longhorns to sweeps of Texas Tech and Kansas State last week. The award is the second Big 12 weekly honor of her career and Texas’ third in as many weeks. The Waterloo, Iowa, native paced the Horns’ attack with 3.75 points and 3.50 kills per-set, while hitting at a .318 clip. She added 0.50 blocks per-set to her stat line for the week. Eckerman and her Texas teammates return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they travel to Baylor. First serve is set for 7 p.m. Central on Longhorn Network.
