• Texas is ranked No. 3 in the current CBS College Sports/AVCA poll (Oct. 13) ... Texas has now appeared in the top 10 of the AVCA poll for 34 consecutive weeks ... the Longhorns' No. 3 ranking in the preseason poll was the highest preseason ranking in UT history, breaking the previous mark of No. 4 set in 1998 and 2007 ... four of Texas' 2008 opponents appear in the current poll, including Big 12 foes Nebraska (No. 2) and Kansas State (No. 15).

• Junior opposite hitter Ashley Engle and freshman setter Michelle Kocher claimed the Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week awards on Oct. 13, marking the third straight week for UT to earn the awards ... Texas has claimed POW four times this season ... Engle averaged 4.79 points, 4.43 kills  and 2.000 digs per-set for the week, while hitting at a .448 clip ... Kocher paced the Longhorns' offense to a .375 attack mark for the week, while registering 13.71 assists and 2.00 digs per-set in UT's victories over Baylor and Colorado. 

• The Longhorns' victory at Colorado (10/11) gave the Longhorns their sixth straight victory, marking UT's longest winning streak of the season ... All-Americans Juliann Faucette (16 kills), Ashley Engle (15 kills), Lauren Paolini (14 kills) and Destinee Hooker (14 kills) each tallied double-digit kill totals in the win, while freshman setter Michelle Kocher dished out 56 assists.

• Texas is hitting a conference-best .348 in league play, holding a large .070 edge on second-place Nebraska which is hitting .278 in the Big 12 ... senior All-America middle blocker Lauren Paolini is leading the way for UT in league play, hitting a Big 12-best .576, registering 73 kills on 118 swings, while committing just five attack errors in seven matches ... Paolini has recorded three error-free matches so far in Big 12 action ... junior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker ranks eighth in the league with a .331 attack mark, while leading the Big 12 with 5.22 points and 4.44 kills per-set ... freshman setter Michelle Kocher paces the conference in league play with 12.36 assists per-set. 

• Since head coach Jerritt Elliott arrived in Austin, the Longhorns have emerged as the dominant volleyball program in the state of Texas ... the Longhorns have posted a 57-7 (.890) record against in-state opponents during the Elliott era, including a 14-0 mark against Texas Tech and a 14-1 mark against Baylor ... Texas has won its last 31 matches versus in-state foes, last dropping a match on Oct. 16, 2004 to Texas A&M.

•  Junior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker recorded her 1,000th career kill in Texas' 3-0 sweep of Baylor (10/8) ... Hooker's nine-kills on .350 hitting pushed the 6'4" outside hitter's career kill total to 1,004 ... she currently ranks 16th on UT's all-time kill list and is one of just 16 players to record 1,000 kills in their Texas careers ... her career kill total is now 1,018.

•  Senior middle blocker Lauren Paolini has shined in Texas' seven Big 12 Conference matches ... Paolini has only committed five hitting errors in seven Big 12 matches ... she is hitting a Big 12-best .474 on the year and a league-best .576 in conference matches ... she committed zero errors and hit at an .800 clip against Nebraska (9/20), recorded zero miscues, while hitting .600 at Kansas (9/27) and went error-free and hit 1.000 against No. 17 Kansas State (10/4).
