Kickin' it with Kisner: Oct. 13

Oct. 13, 2008

Hey Y’all,

We just got back to Austin after an exciting week of Texas Volleyball!!

On Wednesday, we took on the Baylor Bears here at home. Going into the match, we were prepared for a battle. Baylor was tied with us in the conference standings, and they were playing very well. We knew we would have to take it one point at a time and stay focused throughout the entire match. After working hard on our serving during the week, I believed it showed in our match, as we recorded the most service aces that we have had this season.

Over the weekend, we traveled to Colorado to take on the Buffs. After practice on Friday, we loaded the bus to the airport for a two-hour flight to Denver, followed by an hour bus ride to Boulder. Stepping off the plane, we were greeted by the cold air (high 30’s, low 40’s). We were fortunate enough to practice an hour earlier than usual on Saturday morning, so we could watch our football team play Oklahoma. What an awesome game and performance by our Longhorns!

After the football game, we re-focused for our game later that night. Playing in Colorado, the altitude is a definite factor. The ball travels differently, and just the overall altitude/air is different. Playing away is always a challenge, especially against a good Colorado team. Our offense led the drive in our four-set win, which proved to be a tough fight. Colorado made some very good defensive plays, but we kept battling and came out on top!

This week, we are looking forward to another tough set of matches. On Wednesday, we travel to Texas A&M and play the Aggies at 6:30 p.m. We then have a quick turn around and face Missouri here at home on Friday at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to getting back into our gym and seeing all of y’all there!

Hook ‘Em,

Heather
