Volleyball moves up to No. 10 in latest CSTV/AVCA Coaches Poll

AUSTIN, Texas -- After defeating Iowa State and Baylor last week, The University of Texas volleyball team has moved up to No. 10 in the latest CSTV/AVCA Coaches Poll, released Monday.

Texas' pair of Big 12 victories pushed the Horns back into the Top 10 after falling to No. 11 in last week's rankings. The Longhorns started the week sweeping Iowa State, 3-0 in Ames, Iowa and finished off their undefeated week with a 3-2 comeback win over Baylor. Texas' No. 10 ranking returns UT to the Top 10, where it has been ranked six of the season's seven weeks.

Freshman outside hitter Ashley Engle highlighted the Texas attack last week, tallying 42 kills (5.25 k/pg) and 29 digs (3.62 d/pg), while hitting at a .381 clip. Engle equaled her career-high with 26 kills against Baylor and posted her fourth consecutive kill/dig double-double.

Nebraska is ranked No. 1 in the CSTV/AVCA poll, released Monday. The Huskers are followed by No. 2 Penn State, No. 3 UCLA, No. 4 Southern California and No. 5 Washington. Missouri and Oklahoma join Nebraska and Texas as the only other Big 12 schools in the poll at the No. 15 and No. 24 spots.

Texas returns to action Friday, October 13 when it travels to College Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
