Head coach Jerritt Elliott
On the progress of the team coming out of Nebraska:
I feel like we’re getting better.  Obviously Nebraska is a very good team and to win in that environment it is very difficult. The first two games we played very well, but there were just a few too many service errors in game one to really give us an opportunity to steal that game.  What I’m looking for is a demeanor, our ability to play steady for long periods of time, our ability to compete and we were able to do that throughout the entire match except for game three.  So we made some really good strides, we’re getting better, and I’m actually pretty enthusiastic about it.

On the ups and downs of the season: The rollercoaster is at least going up now.  The numbers we were able to put up in games one and two against Nebraska were championship numbers and I’m very pleased with that. We just need to learn how to sustain that.

On the upcoming Volley for the Cure match Wednesday:  It means a lot to our team to be able to do something for the community to make them aware of what is going on with breast cancer.  It will be a tough match for us with Colorado, but an entertaining one and we are enthusiastic to be a part of it.

Senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette
On the win over Iowa State
: Obviously it was a tight game.  It was back and forth, and I think it was really good for our team in terms of defining our character and seeing where we are.  It definitely gave us some confidence in terms of finishing up the game and really coming out not thinking about the past couple of matches.  Game three we weren’t very good and game one we lost, so putting that behind us and being able to come through at the end was very important.

On positives that come from the Nebraska match: I think there are a lot of positives that come from the game against Nebraska.  It’s not like we didn’t fight, and it’s not like we folded. I think we did beat ourselves a little, but Nebraska’s a good team. Playing Iowa State and Nebraska back-to-back, it’s going to be hard getting those two wins in a row.  We would like to get that win in terms of the Big 12 race and obviously we don’t want to have any more in our loss column. That is definitely something that you learn from and we take a lot of good things.

Senior middle blocker Jennifer Doris
On the loss to Nebraska this weekend:
It was obviously a disappointing weekend for Texas sports in general, but it was especially tough for us because we go into Nebraska thinking we could win and it was a little disappointing that we went in a little slow and couldn’t come out with the victory.

On the differences between this season and her past seasons as a Longhorn: We’re definitely not used to losing, but we’re learning a lot and if we can learn from these losses and improve and get better for the tournament. That’s ultimately what we need to do.

Junior middle blocker Rachael Adams
On the match tomorrow night:
Tomorrow, we are just hoping to start a little streak of working together and building confidence for Big 12 play and the NCAA Tournament.

On the ups and downs of the season: We have been streaky, but it’s not the physical part. That part is good.  It’s just the mental part, so we’re trying to get our minds right and get it together.

On being the Big 12 Player of the Week: It was nice, that was my first time being Big 12 Player of the Week, but I can’t become complacent.  I just have to keep working hard and keep giving my teammates what they need from me.

On being a go-to player on the team: I’ve grown into my position.  I kind of take a step back sometimes and it is kind of weird to know that I’m one of those players.  I just have to take it and run with it and be what my teammates need.
