Junior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker carried the Longhorns in their three-set sweep of Iowa State on Wednesday, Sept. 24, hammering out a match-high 19 kills on .531 hitting, while notching three service aces, seven digs and a pair of solo blocks ... the Longhorns' victory extended Texas' home winning streak to 19 matches.
Senior middle blocker Lauren Paolini shined in Texas' loss to No. 2 Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 20, recording 12 kills on 15 swings, committing zero errors and hitting at an .800 clip ... Paolini's attack mark tied her career-best hitting percentage set against Texas State on Nov. 30, 2007 ... she continued her success in Texas' Big 12 home opener against Iowa State, recording eight kills on .467 hitting, while committing just one error... the senior has now committed just one error in league play.
In the most recent release of the NCAA Statistics (Sept. 22), the Longhorns rank fifth on the national charts in blocking, averaging 2.88 blocks per-set ... Texas ranks No. 6 in team hitting percentage with their .307 team attack mark ... senior All-America middle blocker Lauren Paolini ranks 11th in hitting percentage with a .420 attack mark. ... junior All-America opposite hitter Ashley Engle holds the No. 39 position with 0.48 aces per-set.
Freshman setter Michelle Kocher has not missed a beat making the transition from high school to college, assuming the Horns' helm vacated by three-time All-American Michelle Moriarty ... Texas used a 19-kill effort by junior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker to knock off Iowa State, 3-0, Wednesday night and earn its first Big 12 victory of the season ... after earning a win in the first set, Texas was forced to play from behind in the second and third set, winning both frames, 27-25 ... junior libero Heather Kisner added a match-high 19 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Juliann Faucette connected for 11 kills ... senior middle blocker Lauren Paolini registered eight kills on .467 hitting and junior opposite hitter Ashley Engle tallied eight kills, nine assists, four digs and two service aces.

Texas recorded its 15th straight victory and its school-record ninth straight sweep with its 3-0 victory over Kansas, at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center ... outside hitter Destinee Hooker paced the Longhorns 30-20, 30-19, 30-18 win with a match-high 13 kills on .370 hitting ... the Longhorns out-blocked the Jayhawks 15-to-3 on the night and out-hit KU .408-to-.091 ...
