· Texas was ranked No. 7 in the CSTV/AVCA poll, released Monday, Sept. 17 for the third straight week ... Texas opened the season ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll, equaling its best preseason ranking in program history (1998).

· Freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette put up astounding numbers in the Longhorns' pair of Big 12 Conference matches last week en route to claiming her first Big 12 Player of the Week honor ... Faucette tallied 7.33 points and 6.83 kills per game in the two-match week, while hitting at a .437 clip ... she posted her second career kill/dig double-double against Missouri and averaged 2.00 digs per game for the week ... the award was the second straight for UT after sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker claimed Big 12 POW honors on Sept. 10.

· Texas bounced back from its loss to top-ranked Nebraska, knocking off Missouri, Wednesday night in its Big 12 home opener ... Freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette paced the Horns on the night with a match-high 21 kills on a career-best .529 hitting ... Faucette added 11 digs on the night, while sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker tallied 17 kills, 11 digs and four blocks.

· The Longhorns dropped their Big 12 Conference opener at No. 1 Nebraska on Sept. 12, falling to the Huskers, 3-0 ... Freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette highlighted the UT offense on the night, recording 20 kills on .351 hitting ... The match was Faucette's second straight 20+-kill match ... Senior setter Michelle Moriarty paced the Horns on the night with 37 assists and seven digs ... The Huskers out-hit the Longhorns .400-to-.217 in the match, while both teams were marred by a combined 19 service errors.

· Five Longhorns garnered honors at the 2007 Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational (Sept. 6-7), including sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker, who captured MVP honors ... Senior libero Alyson Jennings added Best Libero honors, while senior setter Michelle Moriarty, freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette and senior middle blocker Brandy Magee each garnered all-tournament accolades.

· Texas has been in the national spotlight of late, earning coveted spots on the cover of Volleyball Magazine and VBall Magazine's Collegiate Preview issues ...
