· Texas was ranked No. 7 in the CSTV/AVCA poll, released Monday, Sept. 10 for the second straight week ... Texas opened the season ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll, equaling its best preseason ranking in program history (1998).

· Sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker led No. 7 Texas to victories over Pepperdine and Cal State Bakersfield last weekend (Sept. 6-7) at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational enroute to earning tournament MVP honors and Big 12 Conference Player of the Week accolades ... Hooker averaged 5.57 kills, 3.34 digs and 1.00 blocks per-game for the weekend.

· The Longhorns dropped their Big 12 Conference opener at No. 1 Nebraska on Sept. 12, falling to the Huskers, 3-0 ... Freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette highlighted the UT offense on the night, recording 20 kills on .351 hitting ... The match was Faucette's second straight 20+-kill match ... Senior setter Michelle Moriarty paced the Horns on the night with 37 assists and seven digs ... The Huskers out-hit the Longhorns .400-to-.217 in the match, while both teams were marred by a combined 19 service errors.

· Five Longhorns garnered honors at the 2007 Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational, including sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker, who captured MVP honors ...
