Volleyball improves to No. 3 in AVCA Coaches Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After defeating Utah and New Mexico State last week, the Texas Volleyball team has moved up to No. 3 in the latest CBS College Sports/AVCA Coaches Poll, released Monday.
The Longhorns move back to third in the poll after spending one week at the No. 4 position. Texas opened the season ranked third in the preseason poll and has now been ranked in the top 10 of the AVCA Top 25 for 29 consecutive weeks.
Texas started last week with a 3-0 sweep of Utah on Friday at the New Mexico State Volleyball Classic and completed its perfect weekend with a 3-0 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday.
Penn State is ranked No. 1 in the poll, while Nebraska ranks second, California holds the No. 4 position and UCLA weighs in at No. 5. Kansas State joins Nebraska and Texas as the only other Big 12 school in the poll, holding the No. 19 spot.
Texas returns to action at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 when it kicks off its home calendar against Texas State in the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational.
