Hey Y'all
I am checking in from Las Cruces, New Mexico where we have a two-match tournament coming up today and tomorrow.
We left Austin yesterday after a two-hour practice at Gregory Gym and flew to El Paso. After a 45-minute bus ride from El Paso we arrived in beautiful Las Cruces. We were starving when we got to our hotel and we immediately had a fajita dinner. My roommate for the weekend is Heather Kisner and we both love to watch football, so we spent the remainder of the evening watching the Vanderbilt/South Carolina game.
After a good night's sleep we got up bright and early and headed to the gym at 7:30 a.m. for our first workout at the Pan American Center. When I walked into the arena it was the first time that I have truly liked one of the larger arenas that we have played in. Some of the bigger basketball venues have been challenging with regard to making adjustments. We practiced for about an hour and a half and it was a pretty solid practice.
Following practice we iced down and headed back to the hotel for breakfast and short film session. We will spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing before we get ready for our match with Utah this evening. Utah is a very solid team and we are approaching the match with the attitude that we want to continue improving each time we step on the court. The team is also looking forward to our match with New Mexico State Saturday night. They are a quality team that we know from last season, but they are much improved this year.
We are looking forward to another good weekend of volleyball here in New Mexico. Hopefully you can keep up with us online today and tomorrow and we will see you next weekend at Gregory Gym.
Good luck to football this weekend in El Paso!
