· The Longhorns were picked to finish second in the Big 12 for the second straight season ... Big 12 coaches picked Texas second behind defending National Champion Nebraska, while Missouri ranked No. 3, Texas A&M weighed in at No. 4 and Colorado rounded out the top five ... Iowa State claimed the No. 6 position, Kansas State ranked seventh, Baylor was picked eighth, Oklahoma ninth, Kansas 10th and Texas Tech filled the final spot.

· UT opened its season with a pair of back-to-back matches in State College, Pa. against No. 3 Penn State ... Texas dropped both of its matches, losing 3-1 on Aug. 24 and dropping a much more competitive match, 3-1 on Aug. 25 ... Freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette headlined the Texas attack for the weekend, hammering out 28 kills on .271, while tallying 18 digs and a pair of blocks ... Sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker paced the Longhorns' offense for the weekend, registering a team-high 32 kills on 85 swings and a team-best eight total blocks.

· Texas garnered four preseason Big 12 honors, including its second consecutive Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year honor ... Sophomore Ashley Engle, senior Michelle Moriarty and sophomore Destinee Hooker captured All-Big 12 preseason honors, while freshman outside hitter Juliann Faucette was tabbed the preseason freshman of the year ... Faucette earns the honor after Engle garnered preseason FOY and Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors in 2006.

· The Horns return four All-Americans to the 2007 squad, including senior middle blocker Brandy Magee, who returns after missing most of the 2006 season with a knee injury ... Magee garnered All-America honors in 2005, while Ashley Engle, Michelle Moriarty and Destinee Hooker each claimed All-America honors in 2006.

· Texas' incoming recruiting class has been ranked No. 2 in the country by PrepVolleyball.com and Volleyball Magazine ... The class is highlighted by No. 2 national recruit Juliann Faucette and No. 3 national recruit Jennifer Doris ... High school All-American Elizabeth Graham adds depth to the class, while defensive specialists Chelsey Klein and Alexandra Lewis strengthen the Longhorns' back row.

· Head coach Jerritt Elliott is in his seventh season at the helm of the Longhorns Volleyball program ... Elliott has compiled a 129-56 (.697) record at Texas to go with his seven-year career record of 179-67 (.728) ... Elliott enjoyed his greatest success at Texas in 2006, as the Horns made their first NCAA Regional finals appearance since 1998.
