Letters from camp: Sarah Holloway

Sarah Holloway, Freshman defensive specialist

In about a half-hour, we are headed back to the gym for the second practice of the day. It has been a great week of hard training, team bonding and well-needed breaks. To all of our surprise, our coaches let us have a day and a half off from practice to catch up on some sleep and take care of our bodies. We also officially started (New Student-Athlete) Orientation today, which will keep us busy all weekend in addition to practice.

One of my most-dreaded fears before preseason camp started was getting in the ice baths after practice. Ice baths were not required during the spring season when I joined the team, but they are during preseason!! Now, after being in the heat of August during preseason, ice baths have become one of my best friends. It also is great for team bonding experience for us: there's nothing like all 12 of us standing in 50-degree water going numb and trying to make the best of the situation. Personalities really come out. We have had fun times together as a team, but at the same time we are also getting our business done and making sure we take care of our bodies for the season ahead. Practices have been extremely intense, but very rewarding at the same time. Our team works so hard, and it is great to leave the gym knowing that we held nothing back and left it all on the court. I truly believe that the possibilities are endless with this team.

I am so excited for this season to finally arrive and I can't wait to show everyone how much talent we have on the court this year. It is time for practice ... I will talk to you all soon. Thank you so much for all your support and we'll see you in a couple of weeks at Gregory Gym!
