Four Volleyball matches to be televised this season
Aug. 1, 2012
Three Texas Volleyball matches will be televised on ESPNU for the upcoming 2012 season with one home match to be broadcast on Fox Sports Net. ESPNU will broadcast three road matches for the Longhorns: Tuesday (Sept. 25) at Baylor with a 7 p.m. Central Time start, Sunday (Oct. 28) at Oklahoma with a 2 p.m. start and Wednesday (Oct. 31) at TCU, beginning at 7 p.m. FSN will broadcast the UT-Iowa State match on Wednesday (Oct. 17) from Gregory Gym, starting at 7 p.m.
The Longhorns return eight letterwinners from last year's squad that reached the NCAA Regional final for the sixth consecutive year, the longest current streak in the nation. Texas went 25-5 last year and won the Big 12 Championship for the fifth time in school history.
Junior outside hitter Bailey Webster, the 2011 Big 12 Player of the Year, and sophomore outside hitter Haley Eckerman, the 2011 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, anchor a Texas squad that includes the No. 2-ranked incoming freshman class in the nation.
Texas opens the 2012 regular season by hosting the 26 West Longhorns Classic, Friday-Saturday (August 24-25), in a tournament that features Cal Poly, LSU and San Diego.
