Destinee Hooker leads U.S. Women in 2012 Olympics opener
July 28, 2012 LONDON -- Destinee Hooker and the U.S. Women's Volleyball team opened Group B pool play Saturday with a four-set win over South Korea (25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21). Hooker led Team USA with a team-high 19 kills and 21 points while adding 11 digs in the victory. "Destinee continues to grow as a player and on the biggest stage of the world, she is showing why she is one of the best players in the world," said Texas Volleyball head coach Jerritt Elliott. "We are proud of her." The U.S. squad will continue pool play on Monday against Brazil in a match that starts at 10:45 a.m. Central with live coverage on NBC.
