Volleyball releases 2012 schedule

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Volleyball program announced its schedule today for the 2012 season as Gregory Gym will be the site for the 2012 NCAA Regional on December 7-8. A total of 11 opponents on this year's schedule competed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Texas opens the season with a yet-to-be-named home tournament on Friday (August 24) and Saturday (August 25) that features Cal Poly, LSU and San Diego. After the first home tournament, the Longhorns open its Big 12 season with an early road match at new member West Virginia before traveling to Penn State for the Big 4 Tournament with matches against Florida and Penn State.
On Thursday and Friday (September 6-7), UT will play Minnesota in back-to-back matches at Gregory Gym before hosting its second tournament of the season on Friday and Saturday (September 14-15) against Cincinnati, UCF and last year's NCAA runners-up Illinois.
Big 12 play resumes on Saturday (September 22) when Texas hosts Oklahoma. The Longhorns will welcome another new member to the conference, TCU, with a home match on Wednesday (October 3).
On Monday (October 8), Texas will play a non-conference match at Louisville, site of the 2012 NCAA Final Four.
Four conference matches will take place at Gregory Gym in the month of October while three will occur in the month of November.
Times for all home matches this season will be announced at a later date.
Texas returns nine letter winners from last year's squad that finished with a 25-5 overall record and won the Big 12 championship. The Longhorns reached the regional final in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
