Volleyball closes out exhibition season
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas volleyball team will close out its spring exhibition season on Saturday evening, April 23, when the Longhorns welcome UT-San Antonio to Gregory Gym for a 6 p.m. match. The two teams will play a full, best-of-five-game match and admission is free to the public.
The Horns welcome back eight letterwinners and five starters for the upcoming 2005 season from the 2004 team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, finished 26-5 overall, second in the Big 12 Conference and was ranked in the national top 10 for much of the year. Among the players who are expected to take take the court for Texas are 2004 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Dariam Acevedo (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico), all-region honoree Michelle Moriarty (Houston, Texas) and a pair of UT players who have recently been selected to train with the U.S. National Team this summer - Jenny Andrew (Kingwood, Texas) and all-conference honoree Brandy Magee (Mission Viejo, Calif.).
