Volleyball announces spring schedule

AUSTIN, Texas -- After playing its way into the NCAA Regional Finals for the second time in as many years, the Texas Volleyball team is set to begin its four-event spring calendar.

With 11 returning letterwinners from a team that finished the 2007 campaign ranked in the top 10, the Texas Volleyball team is ready for a challenging spring schedule in preparation for a run at the national title in 2008. The Longhorns will return just eight players to the practice court this spring, as freshman Juliann Faucette, sophomore Destinee Hooker and junior Lauren Paolini train with the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Training Team in Colorado Springs, Colo.

After a 27-4 season that earned the team its fourth straight top-10 ranking, the Longhorns have a lot to look forward to in 2008. Texas returns six players with starting experience, including four All-Americans.

UT opens its spring season on Saturday, March 29 when it travels to Texas State University to play in a round-robin tournament that begins at 9 a.m. The Longhorns will take on Lamar, West Texas A&M, UTSA, Houston, St. Edwards, Incarnate Word and Louisiana Tech in pool play.

Texas' second event of the spring is a 10:45 a.m. match with Tulane on Saturday, April 5 at Gregory Gymnasium. Following the Horns' lone home event, they travel to the 24-team Tornados Tournament in Houston on Saturday, April 12.

The Longhorns close out the spring on Sunday, April 20 in San Diego, Calif. when they compete in the second annual CSTV/AVCA Collegiate Beach Nationals

Texas Volleyball will host a free kid's clinic from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 prior to its match with Tulane. Registration for the clinic begins at 8:30 a.m.

**All times are tentative and may change without notice**
