Khat Bell named 2012 COBRA Magazine Defensive Player of the Year

Sophomore middle blocker Khat Bell (Mesquite, Texas) was named 2012 COBRA Magazine National Defensive Player of the Year. Bell, who bounced back after suffering a knee injury during the 2011 season, led the Longhorns with 142 blocks (1.38 bps) on the team's way to the national championship. Bell recorded 216 kills (2.10 kps) with a .325 hitting percentage while being the anchor for the Longhorns' defense in the middle. She finished 23rd in the nation for blocks as her 1.38 blocks-per-set average places her fifth on UT's single-season list.
