AUSTIN, Texas - The eighth-ranked Texas Volleyball notched its second-straight sweep Saturday afternoon, downing SMU at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational. The 25-20, 25-21, 26-24 victory improved the Longhorns to 5-3 on the season and dropped the Mustangs to 5-6.

Freshman outside hitter Khat Bell headlined the Horns' attack with a career-high 17 kills on .452 hitting and notched her second career double-double with her 10 digs. Freshman outside hitter Haley Eckerman posted 11 kills in the win, while sophomore setter Hannah Allison tallied 22 assists and 10 digs.

After falling behind 20-15 late in the first set, Texas went on a 10-0 run fueled by Bell's strong service run to close out the frame. During the run Eckerman notched three kills before a kill by senior All-America middle blocker Rachael Adams closed out the set 25-20.

Texas grabbed an early lead in the second before allowing a 10-4 SMU rally that put the Mustangs in front 19-18. The Horns took charge late in the set, going on a 5-0 run to clinch the set 25-21 on a service ace by senior libero Sydney Yogi.

SMU pressed Texas again in the third, putting together an 8-0 run midway through the set to grab a 17-15 edge. A 4-0 rally capped by a Bell kill put Texas back in front 19-17, while two blocks by Adams and Bell late in the stanza lifted UT to a 26-24 win.

Texas returns to action at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17 when it hosts UTSA. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. Central.
