Women's Cross Country places nine on Academic All-Big 12 Team

AUSTIN, Texas -- Nine members of the Texas Women's Cross Country team were named to the 2011 Academic All-Big 12 team on Tuesday. Eight of the nine selections were to the first team while one was a second team choice. On the first team were Julie Amthor (Jr., biology), Mia Behm (Sr., advertising), Marielle Hall (So., undergraduate studies), Anne Jones (Jr., biology), Brittany Marches (Fr., biology), Laleh Mojtabaeezamani (Jr., government), Megan Siebert (So., education) and Ginny Simon (Sr., Spanish). Amthor, Siebert and Simon all have posted 4.0 GPAs. Sara Sutherland (So., undergraduate studies) was chosen to the second team. To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. The Longhorns will compete this weekend at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in College Station with the race scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
