IRVING, Texas - The Texas Women's Cross Country team had 10 members earn 2012 Academic All-Big 12 accolades, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Among the nine Longhorns who earned first-team selections (3.20-plus grade point average), three posted perfect 4.00 GPAs, including sophomore Jessica Harper (marketing) and seniors Anne Jones (pharmacy) and Laleh Mojtabaeezamani (government).  UT's other first-team honorees include juniors Marielle Hall (government), Melissa Mahoney (accounting) and Megan Siebert (education/health promotion), sophomores Marissa Pekarek (accounting) and Jenna Read (liberal arts) and redshirt freshman Alaina Perez (chemistry).  Junior Brittany Marches (biology/pre-med) was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team (3.00-3.19 GPA).

Jones and Mojtabaeezamani each received their third league academic honor for cross country while Hall, Marches and Siebert were selected for the second time.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or over the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
