Oct. 16, 2012
NEW ORLEANS – Following a fifth-place finish at the 39-team Pre-Nationals Invitational in Louisville, Ky., last weekend, the Texas Women’s Cross Country team grabbed a No. 14 national ranking in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll. After beginning the 2012 season in the No. 26 spot in the coaches’ poll, the week five rankings match Texas’ highest position since Nov. 1, 2011. In addition, the Longhorns kept their second-place ranking in the South Central Region poll, a spot they have held for the entire 2012 campaign, heading into the championships portion of their season. UT is one of three Big 12 teams currently ranked in the USTFCCCA top-30 with Iowa State at No. 2 and Oklahoma State at No. 27. The Longhorns will play host to the Big 12 Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin. USTFCCCA National Poll – Oct. 16
