Anderson to represent Team USA at IAAF World Junior Championships
INDIANAPOLIS -- USA Track and Field officially selected University of Texas rising sophomore Alex Anderson (Chicago, Ill.) on Friday to represent Team USA at the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships slated for Aug. 15-20 in Beijing, China. Anderson's selection to the team became a formality last month when she captured the women's 100 meters at the 2006 Finish Line USA Junior Track and Field Championships, the meet designated by USA Track and Field to select the roster for the IAAF World Junior Championships. Anderson automatically earned her bid by clocking 11.12 to capture the 100 meters on June 22 in Indianapolis. Anderson also will likely compete in the 4x100-meter relay at the IAAF World Junior Championships. The three-time All-American helped Texas to the NCAA indoor team title in March and a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. Anderson took seventh in the 100 meters at the NCAA outdoor meet to garner her first career individual All-America honor.
