Peter and Dowie medal at NACAC U-23 Championships

GUANAJUATO, Mexico -- Rising juniors Allison Peter and Danielle Dowie each collected medals at the 2012 North America-Central America and Caribbean Under-23 (NACAC U-23) Championships in Guanajuato, Mexico. The competition took place July 6-8 in the city of Irapuato. Peter, who recently qualified for the 2012 London Olympics for the U.S. Virgin Islands in the 100m and 200m, grabbed a silver medal in the 200m. She crossed the finish line in 22.92, edging Cambrya Jones (USA) by eight hundredths of a second. Dowie, competing for Jamaica, won a pair of bronze medals. The first came in the 400m hurdles (58.23), where she beat out fellow Jamaican Yanique Hayes by 12 hundredths of a second to earn a spot on the podium. Dowie earned her second bronze as a member of Jamaica's 4x400m relay team, which finished in 3:34.29.
