Udoh to represent Nigeria at African Senior Championships, London Olympic Games
June 28, 2012 PORTO NOVO, Benin -- Rising junior Christy Udoh will compete for Nigeria at the 2012 African Senior Championships this weekend after adding her name to Nigeria's Olympic roster at the All-Nigeria Athletics Championships. The African Senior Championships will take place June 26-July 1 at the Stade d'Lamite in Porto Novo, Benin. "I find it an honor to represent my country at the African Championships and it makes me even more excited to compete in the London Summer Games," Udoh said. "I am extremely excited because this is an opportunity I'v been wanting to fulfill since I was a child and my dream finally came true. I'm so happy and blessed to have this opportunity." Udoh placed third (22.91) in the 200m finals at the country's track and field national championships in Calabar, Nigeria, last week and will represent Nigeria in the event at the 2012 Olympic Games. Following the national meet, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria named her to the country's team for the continent-wide championships. She will run as a member of the 4x100m relay on Friday.
