Myers qualifies for World Championships in the 100m at USA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. -- Former Women's Track and Field standout Marshevet Myers secured her spot on Team USA for the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, Korea after posting the second-fastest 100m time at the USA Outdoor Championships Friday at Hayward Field. Myers clocked a wind-aided 10.83 to advance to her first World Championships in the event. Former Horn Alexandria Anderson just missed qualifying for Worlds as she placed fifth in the 100m with a time of 11.07. Current freshman Briana Nelson earned a spot in the juniors 400m final as she posted the fourth-best time of the semifinals in 54.10. Former world champion Sanya Richards-Ross did not start in the senior's 400m semifinal but she is guaranteed a spot in Daegu as the previous world champion in each event earns an automatic exemption in to the meet. Texas athlete's continue competition on Saturday with the 200m first round in both the junior and senior sections along with the juniors high jump, juniors 400m final and juniors 200m final. Fans can watch on Universal from 2-3 p.m. CT and NBC from 4-5 p.m. CT.
