Women's Track and Field's Carter throws season best at U.S. Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- Texas women's track and field senior Michelle Carter ended her final season in burnt orange with the best performance of her 2007 outdoor campaign.

Throwing in rainy conditions, Carter tossed 57 feet, 7 3/4 inches (17.57-meters) on the second-to-last attempt of the six-throw series. The 2006 NCAA Indoor Shot Put National Champion finished fifth in the shot put on Sunday, June 24 at the 2007 AT&T U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium.

Carter ends her career with seven All-American honors including three this year. At the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships in March, Carter finished in second-place by less than two inches. She came back during the outdoor season to earn two All-American awards, taking fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus for the first time ever.
