AUSTIN, Texas - A group of current and former Longhorns will take to the track this week at the 2011 U.S.A. Track and Field Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from Thursday-Sunday, June 23-26.
Freshmen Briana Nelson, Christy Udoh, Marielle Hall, Shanay Briscoe and sophomores Kendra Chambers and Chalonda Goodman will be competing for the Longhorns this weekend. Nelson (200m, 400m) and Hall (1,500m) will run in the juniors section while Udoh (200m), Chambers (400m), Goodman (100m, 200m) and Briscoe (high jump) will be in the seniors heats.
Texas Exes competing will be Sanya Richards-Ross (400m), Alexandria Anderson (100m, 200m), Bianca Knight (200m), Marshevet Myers (100m, 200m) and Michelle Carter (shot put). Richards-Ross and Carter have national championships to their name as Richards-Ross is looking to win her sixth 400m national title overall while Carter will also be looking to win her third crown.
The top three finishers in the seniors section will earn a spot on the U.S. Team for the IAAF World Championships held in Daegu, Korea, August 27-September 4.
