INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Texas freshman All-American Alex Anderson (Chicago, Ill.) claimed the 100 meters Thursday at the 2006 Finish Line USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis.
After clocking a top preliminary-round time of 11.26 seconds on Thursday morning, Anderson won the 100-meter national title with a time of 11.12, edging her nearest competitor by four one-hundredths of a second.
Anderson recently completed a tremendous freshman season at UT, during which she garnered All-America honors in the indoor 4x400-meter relay and the outdoor 100 meters. She also ran the second leg of UT's 4x100-meter relay team that won the NCAA title in 42.84, tying the second-fastest time in school history.
