Women's Track & Field lands 11 on 2012 Outdoor All-America teams

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2012 Outdoor All-America teams this week, with 11 members of the Texas Women's Track & Field team earning honors in 14 events. The Longhorns had eight garner First Team accolades. Sophomore Shanay Briscoe landed on the First Team for her second-straight season after finishing second in the high jump with a career-best leap of 1.90m (6-2.75). Briscoe was joined on the first team by Kendra Chambers, Angele Cooper, Danielle Dowie and Briana Nelson (4x400m Relay), Dowie in the 400m Hurdles, Victoria Lucas in the high jump, and Christy Udoh in the 200m. Texas' 4x400m Relay team finished fifth in the event finals in 3:30.31, its second-fastest time of the season. Dowie's time of 56.85 earned her sixth place in the 400m Hurdles finals and her second of two First Team honors. Lucas matched her career-best in the high jump (1.83m, 6-0) to tie for sixth. Udoh earned her first All-America honors by running for sixth in the 200m with a time of 23.45. UT also had 10 athletes named to the Second Team, including Chambers, who beat her previous career-best by nearly three second in the 800m prelims (2:03.91) and narrowly missed earning a spot in the finals. She was joined on the second team by Cooper (400m Hurdles), Chalonda Goodman (200m), Morgan Snow (100m Hurdles), Beverly Owoyele (high jump) and Sara Sutherland (5000m). Goodman and Snow, along with Dowie and Udoh, also picked up Second Team honors in the 4x100m Relay.
