Women's Track and Field to send seven athletes and two relays to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- The top-ranked Texas women's track and field team will send seven athletes and two relays to the NCAA Championships on June 8-11 in Sacramento, Calif., as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday.

The Longhorns will be led by sophomore Marshevet Hooker (San Antonio, Texas), who qualified for the national meet in the 100 meters and the long jump and will anchor the 4x100-meter relay.

Juniors LaTashia Kerr (Houston, Texas) and Melaine Walker (Kingston, Jamaica) and sophomore Jerrika Chapple (Lancaster, Texas) will be competing in three events as well. Kerr will compete in the 200 meters and both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. Walker will participate in the 400-meter hurdles and both relays, while Chapple will run the 400 meters and both relays.

Junior Sheretta Jones (Houston, Texas) received an at-large bid in the 400-meter hurdles and will run the first leg of the 4x400-meter relay. Classmate Ashlee Williams (Dallas, Texas) will run the 100-meter hurdles and sophomore Michelle Carter advanced in the shot put.
